Writing Killer Article Titles That Work Every Time

By Felix Marton

There are many important aspects to article marketing that you should be aware of. And one of the most obvious of these steps is coming up with a title for your article. It's essential to choose your title carefully, whatever the subject of your article might be. Without the right title, you will lose a high percentage of your potential audience right from the start. People will want to read your articles when they see that you're able to provide them with the kind of content that they really want. The very first thing readers will notice about your articles, of course, is their titles.

One way to get more readers for your article is to lay out clear steps or create a numbered list of items. By referring to the list in your title, such as "7 things to remember about..." you'll have a catchy title that people will notice. Many readers prefer to see information in this form, as it's easy on the eyes to simply read down a list of items. Starting with a list of things, characteristics or advantages, you'll have a ready made title that will be compelling. If you want to attract loyal readers, make sure that when you mention something in the title that you actually have it in the article body.

One of the most basic concepts in copywriting is personalizing your copy, and you can extend that to titles, as well. In so many ways, people are generally only interested in their own gain, and you can use that to your benefit. Writing just like you are talking to a friend is where this is going, and that is what you need to understand. Your audience determines how you talk to them in your writing, and usually it is safe to be personal. Just about every article title you will see uses this approach, so check it out and take notice. An often used tactic for article titles has them starting out with "How to..." Many people are interested in learning how to do various things, which is why this approach works so well. You seldom go wrong when your title has "how to" in it. Remember that many people on the internet are seeking a solution to a certain problem. If your article shows people how to do something, make that clear in the title. By doing this one thing, you can dramatically increase the number of people who read your article.

Asking a question in your article's title can be an effective approach. There's something about using a question in your article title that makes it different. When someone sees your question in the title, his mind will tend to seek an answer. To find out the answer, of course, they will have to read your article. This works best with open-ended questions that can be covered thoroughly in the body of your article.

Your article should invoke the curiosity in your potential reader, and using such a title will help you achieve that. There is a lot of content on the web about how to create effective article titles. No need to feel like you are blazing new trails, and that means to learn the basics and then practice them. Some copywriters will write out one hundred headlines or so, and that is not a bad idea for you. Create a swipe file of article titles that gave you results as doing this will allow you to use article titles that actually make a difference. Writing article titles that just knock people out and make them want to read anything you write is your ultimate goal.
