PPC Marketers Taking A Hit

By Ivan Andrianko

With the introduction of Facebook's "like" button came one of the most important changes to internet marketing in years. Its favorable means of collecting information defined a new era of internet marketing strategies. This simple four letter word is now the number 1 way to collect valuable consumer information. With this tactic come drastic changes in other categories of marketing which were not related prior.

What does this mean for your PPC Landing Page Design?

If you do PPC, then you know how important a well constructed Landing Page Design is to your revenue.

Keep in mind that the entire purpose of your SEM landing page design is you convert as many people as possible; after all, you are paying for every click.

A key reason people start PPC websites is because you don't need to go near any frustrating, long term SEO commitments, but a serious problem is starting to arise..

PPC is going through drastic changes in the coming future...

If PPC is your websites main resource, then you are about to take a hit!

PPC is great tool of jumping into internet marketing because, as long as you have the money to be on top, you will stay there. What does facebook have to do with it?

Since you can google +1 website's from search engine listings, websites indexed will start building these likes, but if you have a ppc website, then you are obviously no worried with SERP rankings. The problem with this is that your website has virtually no chance of collecting these likes, thus, losing an edge on the competition.

How are ranked websites a threat to my ads?

The Google +1s are not just next to the website results, but also next your the advertisements on the left.

The probability that you advertisement will be plus +1'd is slim. People won't declare that they like your ad before they know what it is all about.

people are much less likely to google +1 your landing page's advertisement from the search engine listings as this would not make sense. People do not declare that they like something before they know what it is about, and even once they visit your website, it is beyond them to go back and show favor to your ads.

Do PPC hot shots have to learn SEO?

It depends. There are already growing services out there that offer Google +1, and buying them will always be an option.

The question now is; whether or not Google will change it algorithms to discriminate against un-organic likes.

Either way, PPC websites need to start figuring out how to accumulate +1s now, if they wish to overt the negative effects that will come from lacking them.

How far behind you are with your PPC landing page designs\' favor-ability will ultimately depend on where your competition stands.

Google likes and PPC ad positions

Another issue needing to be addressed is whether SERP rankings will be affected by these +1's, if that is the case, not only will people have difficulty running their PPC campaigns without SEO, but have a hard time catching up to those already up there in the rankings. Not only is Google talking about Google likes affecting SERP results, but they state that +1's could possibly affect ad ranks as well.

This simple little button could overturn all the money you put into your landing page design and everything else to do with your website. This will soon turn out to be a turn into a completely different era of landing page strategy, the time to act is NOW!

If you do not prepare for the age of Google likes, you will suffer the consequences.
