Sleep disorders can lead to strokes, depression, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic diseases.

By Andrew Swift

Another day is done and that means another attempt for the good night sleep but it doesn't always materialize, does it? When was the last time you woke up every day saying I feel great? you are not there are many like you. And it is a worse problem than you may realise; sleep is among the most basic survival needs in life.

One might have the impression that we are inactive during our sleep, it's quite the opposite, it's when our brain re-wires re-files and re-sorts it is busy processing our day making connection between events and sensory inputs, quality sleep helps us process things better. Our body mends and rejuvenates itself, reading itself for another busy day. Our body repair damage caused by stress ultra violet rays and various harmful exposures. Our cells produce more protein even though we sleep; protein is a critical building feature for bodies.

Sleep is as important as air we breathe the food we eat and the liquids we drink. Lack of sleep has an influence on jobs, relationships productivity and safety as well as our physical and mental health and and it applies to all ages. You may not be feeling the effects while you are young but it will catch up to you whenever you age. We need sleep to survive, but is a superb night rest is measured but the amount of sleeping we get?

Sleep expert suggest that 7-9 hours is a recommended dose, but how much we actually sleep is greatly subject to our modern life style we try to become more with less, the ugly truth is that although society has changed our bodies haven't. And even bigger issues one over looked is the quality of our sleep just how much sleep are we really entering those 7-9 hours or less. According to national sleep foundation more than 70 million Americans are enduring sleep difficulties, evenly divide between adults and children, more than half of them considering it as chronic problem. As society we shortening the time we sleep and how you sleep. we are in for big troubles.

Untreated sleep problems has been linked to strokes, depression hyper-tension, diabetes, heart disease and other chronic diseases. when we do get enough quality sleep our life receive a dramatic turn for the better; we wake renewed, ready to take on the day, we have more energy, less stress, we are more alert. We think more clearly and our system is more fortified to combat illness. Only you can control how much sleep you get for a very good health. It is not wise to burn the candle called rest on both ends.

There are other steps to improve the quality of your sleep and that has to with what you sleeping on, your bed should allow proper support and circulation it will allow your body to breath and maintain a snug temperature not too hot not too cold, sleep well and wake up each day happier more healthy and more energetic.
