Indoor tanning lotion offers a healthier alternative than exposing yourself to a lot of ultraviolet rays. Here are a few tips and ideas for getting the most from your indoor tanning lotion products.


Before you use indoor tanning lotion products, preparation is vital. To avoid skin irritation, do not shave or exfoliate your skin on the same day that you apply lotions, or at least wait for a few hours. If you plan to take a shower, take it several hours before application.

When seeking an even tan on your body, your hands should be a focus. When you are applying tanning lotion, your hands will be saturated in it for some time. As soon as you are done applying the product, wash your hands two or three times, so they will not have a deeper tan than the rest of your body.


Tanning lotion will do its best work if it can soak completely into skin. Do not get dressed right away or go to bed too quickly after applying tanning lotion. Also, avoid contact with water, especially swimming, for many hours.

Indoor tanning lotion does not work well in tanning salon environments. If you are going out into the sun or on the beach, make sure that you use products that contain SPF protection for your skin. For best results, apply tanning lotion on a small, unseen area first.
